ASAP Strength Training Podcast (episode #56) with Philadelphia Eagles Strength Coach Mike Wolf

Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles arrived into downtown Cincinnati for their one o'clock Sunday kick-off versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Wolf That allowed the Strength Coach for the Eagles, Mike Wolf,  an opportunity to get back together with ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power Program Director Ted Lambrinides. Since the Eagles are in town, it gave the coaches a chance to  sit down for dinner  and discuss strength training and conditioning in the NFL....and of course nutrition while at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse.
Joining the dinner party were Assistant Strength Coaches Barry Rubin and Jay Merlino. (Coach Rubin, in fact, spent plenty of years as the Strength Coach of the Green Bay Packers). Also, ASAP Podcaster Ed Cicale made sure that the protein content of his entree was sufficient.
Later, with the microphones rolling in a makeshift studio, we recorded today's ASAP Podcast and discussed:

ASAP at East Lansing: Michigan State vs Ohio State

Oie_spartan_stadium_036_2

Proper techniques need to be mastered by athletes through the execution of many repetitions over a long period of time.

Speed does not develop after just a week or two of drills. Months of hard training and the execution of hundreds of drills can help an athlete to be ready to perform at peak levels.

ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power went on location to East Lansing, Michigan to witness some of the finest conditioned college football athletes. Michigan State vs Ohio State. Both programs develop top notch athletes. MSU's former star, Plaxico Burress made some stellar catches in last year's Super Bowl victory for the New York Giants. Thirty former Buckeyes are presently on NFL rosters.

Movement patterns, pre-game drills, and flexibility training techniques were closely examined, photographed and video taped for further study. In future blog posts, ASAP will share some of the findings observed by athletes trained under MSU's Ken Mannie, Mike Vorkapich, Tommy Hoke and Tim Wakeham. And those Buckeyes trained by Eric Lichter, Jeff Uhlenhake and Doug Davis.

Chris Henry, Cincinnati Bengals Training at The Workout at Covington

Oie_dsc_0165_4

Dsc_0179_4 Being suspended by the NFL is never easy....nor is spending 5 weeks--- 6 days a week with ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power Program Director Ted Lambrinides. Yet, that's where the talented wide-out, Chris Henry, of the Cincinnati Bengals found himself: daily training sessions at The Workout @ Covington. The speedy receiver finished his last session on Saturday and rejoins Carson Palmer and the rest of his Bengals teammates on Monday in preparation for a game against the Dallas Cowboys. "I'm definitely ready to go." said a smiling Chris Henry who looked every bit of 6'4 and 200 pounds.
The workouts consisted of strength training exercises that were preceded by Dynamic Warm-ups, Flexibility Training, Strength and Power training.... and of course, shuttle runs.... lots of shuttle runs, gassers and Interval Training. Then there were the football specific drills and catching skill work, also.
